My knowledge is limited to what I gleaned from conversaitons with my oldest son who was investigating doing something very similar in 2003 due to the poor employment prospects for his UG degree in the US at that time. He encountered what appeared to be a "Catch 22" in regards to employment in the UK or Europe.
Most contries are very vigilant at protecting skilled job positions for their own citizens. A foreign applicant would need an "Employment Certificate" before they could be hired, and permission to enter the country. The only way to secure these employment papers from outside the country was to have an "In Country" firm sponsor you by proving that no native or resident applicants with the requisite skills could be located. But again, this is 5-year old, second hand information.
He did discover some interesting graduate study programs in his field at very attractive costs, compared to similar programs in the States. Perhaps enrolling in a UK Graduate School with a Co-Op or Work program could provide an easier means to your desired end. As result of our new "Global Economy", I think all employers are eagerly seeking new hires with internaitonal experience.
BTW - this same son later chose to go to Law School and is now getting his Intenational Experience by working as an attorney in Saipan.
