The title says it - 1992 Saab 9000. It has around 225,000 miles on it. The inspection is up in September and i'm debating whether to suck it up and put the money into it, or buy a "newer" [used] Saab. I'd like to get one for around $5,000, but may only be able to afford $2,500 by that time.

This engine of this car runs great, it's everything else. It's cosmetically, not the best - but if it's worth fixing to keep getting me around so I can save more money to get a better newer Saab, i'll do it.

Here are the non-cosmetic, need for inspection issues:
-Windshield cracked significantly
-Missing left passenger mirror [still have casing, mirror fell off]
-Back right caliper sticks [anyone have a trick to fix that?]. Seems only calipers are refurbished. Had breaks done last year for inspection, but started sticking immediately after. Has been unhooked ever since.
-Smell of burning oil when i run the car - very likely an oil leak hitting exhaust
-Passenger Windshield wiper won't work for the most part. Also, washer fluid won't work, but fluid isn't a requirement in my state to pass.

The car has a practically brand new exhaust in it, and there are plenty of other parts that are fairly new. So..
...Do I fix it to save more money? I paid $1,750 for it 4 years ago in August.
...Sell it...even though it has no KBB value anymore essentially
...Part it out and sell it
...Bring it to a junk yard where they will give me $150 bucks.

I have someone here that can work on the car, but not until we get our garage built - and that won't be until AFTER it needs inspection.

Thanks for any input. I'm just not sure if a car this old, with this much mileage, is really worth putting the money into - especially if i'll just get rid of it by the end of winter again.

Oh, and I live in New England and the heat is going.

Maybe I should call click and clack on car talk...stump the chumps anyone?
