And I thought I was the only one who messed with the followers.
I'd go down into the metro stations, round a corner, wait for about two seconds, and then walk the same way I came.
It didn't matter; there were two guys in black leather jackets sitting in Ladas on EVERY street corner.
Imagine having two policemen on every street corner on every downtown block in NYC. And that's not considering the networks of informants, police on the street, and hidden cameras. I also thought my rooms were bugged.
I mentioned to the lady intourist guide at the time that I was learning Russian. She asked if I knew any other languages. I said, "A very little Spanish."
The next day, I was in a group of people. Coming right through the crowd were two guys. They came right up next to me and said something in Spanish (which I did not understand) to see, apparently, if I understood, and they kept on going.
Oh well, some people like big government. I don't.
