My favorite is aircraft landing lights, roughly 100w, but one heckuva pencil beam!
They lit up speed limit signs roughly 1.2 miles ahead...couldn't read the signs but saw the white square and pushed the trip meter...1.2miles later that white square went by!!
The lights were only rated to 25 hours but they generally lasted several years on the high beam of a quad setup on a GMC pickup with a 396 rat motor. Had to solder the circuit breaker shut on the light switch before I finally went to relays. Highly recommend relays whatever you do!
Twin 200 watt railroad lights and all the rest of the electrical load on your Saab will likely overload the alternator. You could go to a 140 watt 9K alternator...highly recommended if you go for the 400 watt load.
