We are in the midst of re-decorating our sons' old teenage bedrooms into something more befitting their late 20's ages for their seasonal visits. Gone are the twin beds. In their place will be a traditional full size bed for one, and an IKEA platform bed for the other - matching their individual tastes.
While researching the size of a MALM bed to detemrine which vehicle should be used for the trip to the store, I discovered that IKEA sizes their twin and full size beds one-inch narrower than standard US sizes. Likewise, IKEA's mattresses are narrower too, for twin and full sizes only.
We had already ordered a Serta mattress for the MALM bed (using slats rather than box spring),as we did not like our choices at IKEA, before we learned of the size difference. The IKEA salesman "guaranteed" a standard size mattress will fit. We saved all boxes and packaging material for the bed in case he was mistaken and we have to return it.
Has anyone here fitted an innerspring full size traditional mattress into a MALM bed? As the mattresses are scheduled for delivery tomorrow I am curious if I will return to a happy wife, or a crying wife, when I arrive home from work.
TIA
