With a bad back and spinal surgery my ZeissContax tank and its lenses have become an issue to lug around on hikes. Of course they betrayed their customers by folding rather than team up with another company to face the digital age.
Olympus tout the smaller size and lighter weight of their cameras. E3 body seemed heavy at 1,6kg.I lifted an E510 and found it light enough to consider carrying on a hike ,but the specs of the attached stock lense were clearly dog "slow". The 2 higher quality of their 3 lense groups looked heavy e.g. 30 to 100 mm ED which is apparently an equivalent of 70 to 200 mm on 35mm. weighs all of 1.6kg.
I dont have comparative experience with the weight of the Canon and Nikon prime lenses.I can say the top Olympus glass is a lot more expensive than these two.
Any members with experience on these issues ? Is the Olympus stuff "lighter" in weight overall, is the quality of the picture product close to the other two.
Your thoughts would save many of us much of the needed research time! Thanks.
