When this story came out, it made me totally reevaluate my view of Hyundai: "the sleeper performance car". Hyundai should have paid for this guy's legal defense for all of the positive publicity it produced for the car (not that I encourage driving at 147 mph) - LOL. My guess is that the ECU limits the speed to something in that range to accommodate the V-rated tires (149 mph max) that come with the car.

One of my coworkers has a Kia, which is Hyundai's low-pried line. It has over 110,000 miles with minimal work, but is really a "tin box" kind of car - they also depreciate quite rapidly.
