I had a 16' sailboat that was trailered on a couple of 500 mile trips and never wore out the tires. Finally replaced them when they started to rot. If the boat is bouncing around that may be the problem. You might want to rebalance the load to get more tongue weight. You should have 5-10% of the total trailered weight on the tongue. As far as checking the alignment, measure the distance between the center of the thread on the two tires front and rear. They should be the same, indicating no toe in or out. Also check to see that the tire is perpendicular with the road. A bent axle or bad spindle can be fixed be a trailer dealer.
