I agree the v6 9-5 gets bad mileage. I bought it because it was really cheap and now regret it for that reason. My 9000 averages close to 30 mpg with a 50/50 city/highway mix. I don't understand why a newer car would get worse mileage than an older one. The 9000 is plenty fast and it has never gotten stuck in a Minnesota winter. AWD is just a marketing gimmick that can never rival a good set of snow tires in the winter. The problem with newer Saabs is that they are getting fatter (useless annoying gimmicks like immobilizers that crap out at the wrong time, AWD that wastes gas and other stuff that adds to bulk and complexity) and more wasteful. Saab will never win back its lost clientele by trying to meld the GM Suburban with an Audi. Wouldn't it would be great if GM/Saab would also offer a speedy hatchback that gets good mileage and handles like say, a Saab!
