Maybe. I think it depends on what you get, and how heavily they will get used. We just bought a fridge (Samsung) and a range (Bosch) - passed on Frigidaire products each time because the products felt kind of flimsy to the touch and are heavy users with little kids. The kids are tough on stuff (no, we don't let them use the range!) so we wanted to get things that seemed to be durable.
On the other hand, Frigidaire does rate well in the Consumer Reports user data. Check it out.
I learned a lot while shopping, e.g., Whirlpool is like the GM of the appliance world. Many brands are Whirlpool products, but they vary in feature, quality, and purpose, and price. These include Jenn-Air, Kitchen Aid, Maytag, Amana, and of course Whirlpool itself.
Good luck,
-Dan
