- The plastics are very cheap, perhaps the worst out there, even compared to "cheap korean cars"
I find the plastics to be hard, but they look good, not shiny and the interior design is tasteful visually. (Subjective)
- The ergonomics are terrible, the window switch located in the floor of the center console, beyond the shifter is not acceptable. I didn't get in the back seat but would think it has something like that too.
People say the same about the center window switches on Saab 900'sm OG9-3
s and 9-5's
- The buttons on the steering wheel are for tiny fingers, perhaps they were made to be used with the pinky finger all the time.
I've never had a problem on this GM cross-platform steering wheel, first I've heard from anybody of the buttons being too small, but that's subjective too, or you have big fingers.
- Although fuel efficient, there was no pep whatsoever, perhaps okay for the class that it competes in. However I have driven my sister in law's Kia and it felt much better.
It's all about power-to-weight ratio, throttle progression, torque curves, etc... Sometimes car companies juice up the throttle progression so that you get lots of initial pep and then you run out of steam. I don't like that and this is subjective too.
- Styling is on the eye of the beholder, I didn't like it....yeah, just like the PT cruiser it looked nice at first, but 10 minutes later I was over it...
I think the HHR is a better design than the PT, but retro isn't my style.
- Blind spots....
I never found it to be that bad, but this is what you get when you want this type of style on a vehicle, hard to avoid.
- ABS? I had to slam on the brakes once and it brought me back to 1990...no pulsating, just a big skid mark
ABS is not standard on many models because some people don't want to pay extra for it. I think they should have kept it standard though.
- There are better cars in the price range. The LS model starts at 19K, you can get a Golf (rabbit), Mazda 3, Civic, Impreza, just to mention some.
Yes, but those don't carry as much cargo, and I bet those competitors wouldn't be equivalently equipped, would have to check it out on a website like truedelta.com which does this very well.
