I was searching the wealth of info on this board, several small engine posts...but can anyone explain the relation of the throttle cable to the governor linkage on an old Briggs & Stratton engine? I'm talking a 25 yr old engine but that's irrelevant. It seems the throttle cable is connected to an elaborately shaped stamped peice of metal that is just a dummy lever, not actually doing anything to speed up or slow down the engine. Therefore, the throttle must be directly related via a spring to the linkage that is a rod with a spring between the throttle plate and governor flap inside the engine cowl. Ive tried diagrams but it seems every engine is a little different. Anyone have a simple and clear explanation or site for diagrams or manuals? Thanks much!
