Is the unswitched power, which seems to not be connected and causing you to lose memory. I had my headunit professionally installed (they told me the Crutchfield harness wasn't exactly right) and then later went snooping around to see what they did and to hook up my subwoofer via line level inputs. It appeared that they needed to add an extra pin in the c-field harness for the yellow unswitched power, so I'm guessing that's what's up in your case.
From your description, it sounds as if you have a yellow wire at the HU that is unplugged. I would check a wiring diagram (doesn't c-field provide one?) and verify that the yellow should be connected to the battery (unswitched power). Verify in the Pioneer wiring diagram which pin needs unswitched power, and connect them. Also use a multimeter to see if the yellow wire you have is actually an unswitched power lead, because I seem to remember that the stock amp uses a yellow lead for a remote turn-on, although that could be brown.
I must ask, though, why remove the stock amp? Planning on putting in an aftermarket amp? A headunit alone shouldn't be powering 8 (or 10 depending on if CS/CSE/Aero) speakers. Remember, not enough power is worse than too much and will cause the speakers to clip.
