Saturn has cost GM tens of billions of dollars and NEVER made a dime.
Saab has costs GM tens of millions and never made a dime. . .GM did not take advantage of what Saab had to offer so them getting rid of Saab is probably a good thing for Saab. I see two possibilities:
1. GM tries to sell Saab but there are no buyers. The Swedish government kicks in some money to keep Saab going and GM keeps them and uses some of the technology/engines/etc to meet the new Car Czar requirement for small cars.
2. GM sells Saab to the Swedish gov (as does Ford with Volvo) and they run a new, GM of Sweden using the existing dealer networks.
Either way, I don't see Saab dissolving. . .I don't see Sweden letting that happen.
