Yep, you can bet on it. The last Collar City auction I went to was a house on the Waloomsac River. The guy who owned the house had died. He was an avid outdoorsman and also was a retired engineer. Those lots were crazy. It was whatever they threw in the box. I wanted some of his Orvis fly-tying stuff. I bid on the lot it was in. When I got home there was all kinds of other stuff in there that had nothing to do with what I bid for. There were three brand new TI graphing calculators in the box worth about $140 a piece. I paid $10 for the box lot. I also got three vintage Orvis bamboo fly rods for $15 a piece in a separate auction. A lot of what you'll be bidding on will be a grab bag for sure. Whatever's on the "shelf". Their mission is to clean the place out. You can bet that they won't spend much time sorting parts out to look for valuable stuff. It's whatever the market will bear that afternoon. At that same auction I was speaking about earlier, they had a bunch of boxes filled with books. Most boxes went for a couple bucks each. One box though went for over $200. There was a rare book in it and a couple bidders knew it. The auctioneers depend on the buyers being knowledgeable and that will bring the money for the valuable stuff.
