its classic to have a saab turn into a h2o combustible motor.
it tends to happen with a h30.oil cooled turbo unit. might be a good time to look to see how much radiator fluid you have and keep the fluid full.
if you need to drive the car take a gallon of water with you and keep an eye on the radiator level.
although turbocon is at the right spot if the oil seal was gone the smoke would be blue, seeing how its white makes me think the water side of the turbo blew and is now leaking into the turbo unit. might not be to much seeing how the amount of smoke increases when you step on it.
if your mechanically inclined pull out the spark plugs one at a time.
look for one thats really clean on gap end. if you pull the plugs and they all look to have the same wear or same chared on the end its not your head gasket.
if it was one of the plug will be very very clean, much like someone pulling a used plug and got a brillo pad and warm water and scrubbed on one plug of 3 hrs cleaning it.
if you find your water level is really low and all plugs are at the same charness your turbo unit is shot.
under freakish events in the cold morning a normal running motor will produce your symptoms but they will disappear after the motor has reached its operating temps. (a motor that's been running for an hour)
if you check your radiator fluid and its full, your car just has the case of being cold, its common
the crack at the weld shuld get fixed sometime
