On my return trip from Ontario, Canada on Saturday, I stop to fill-up before crossing the GWB. I wanted to take advantage of NJ's cheaper gas -- a practice of most NY drivers. I had tanked-up in Vineland, Ontario and driven to that point (435miles) on that tank. I still had about an 1/8 of a tank left.
I filled up and everything seemed OK on restart. The next day, I turned the car on and got a CEL. Driving around the Niagara peninsula was an adventure in winter driving, with snow and icey conditions putting the TCS to work often. With CEL activated, I started thinking of what possibly might have changed. The car wasn't idling roughly, so concerns about MAF, spark, filter, and TB were discounted. Then I starting thinking about the fuel system and realize the CEL might be related to the new gas.
Today I added Lucas Gas Booster?. I drove for a block or two and voila! the CEL is disappeared. I don't think this was a coincidence. This is the second time I have had a bad experience with Sunoco gas in NJ. Has anyone else had this experience recently? If not, beware.
