The frozen front stoop problem. Posted by adl6009 [Email] (#2526) [Profile/Gallery] (more from adl6009) on Sun, 11 Jan 2009 13:38:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Basically the problem is my front door faces north. So it's in the shadow all day. When it snows the front steps and walkway are frozen until I spend 3 or 4 hours bustin my you know what clearing it off. The folks across the street just watch from their living rooms as their walks are cleared by the melting action of the sun. I can't use ice melting chemicals because the steps and walkway are blue stone and there is grout between the stones. I know, I should have spent the 3 grand extra on the heated walkway, but I am basically cheap, not to mention short sighted. Anyone know of some miracle product or strategy? (the stoop is 10x6 with four steps to a 10x25 walkway, all bluestone pavers.)
