Audi Brotherhood? Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Tue, 3 Feb 2009 07:35:45 In Reply to: Re: Switching, Dan W, Mon, 2 Feb 2009 06:47:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
When my 1996 Audi A4 was new, I had the same feeling of a lack of "brotherhood", especially compared to what I have experienced with help for my SAABs. Most of the online chat for the new cars tends to focus on appearance items, i.e. wheels, lowering springs, RS4 bumpers, etc. - what else are you going to talk about while the car is covered under its four year warranty? As time has gone by and the car has gotten older and more affordable, the "brotherhood" and help factor has increased substantially. I recently had to replace the oil cooler O-ring and oil pan gasket and received invaluable online help, some local help with reprogramming an A/C control module, etc.
Enjoy your car! In 1996 they didn't offer the Avant wagon for the then-new A4 model or that's what we would have bought. By the way, an Audi is a MUCH more complicated car than a SAAB and your repair bills will be correspondingly higher; there are few jobs that I would not attempt myself on my SAAB 9000, but I take the Audi in for repairs often.
