Some houses suffer from tremendous termite damage, flood damage, fire damage etc. The damage can often exceed the value of the house but at the same time, there is value in the land and value in some of the non-damaged materials in the house. So while the home may not have a lot of positive value, there is still value there - in other words, the home will sell at a certain price. It may be a low price but it's a price none the less.
Same goes for many businesses, car or otherwise. Usually there is some sort of 'value' whether it's tangible such as the inventory and real estate, or intangible like the brand name. Mini is a pretty good example of this; there was very little tangible value in the company but the brand itself was obviously worth something to BMW. They saw an opportunity in the brand.
To simply say that Saab has no value is not entirely true. Although it has been poorly tainted buy mismanagement, there's value in the brand that could be restored. Saab _could_ be sold at a price.
