OT: Retirement Asset Trusts as part of Estate Planning Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 24 Apr 2009 04:48:10 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
During the 5-year review of our Estate Planning documents we were advised to strongly consider creating "Retirement Asset Trust(s)" for our young adult children which would be funded with the 401(k), 403(b), and other taxable dollars upon the death of my wife and I. Apparently this type of trust allows for transfer of otherwise taxable portions of our estate to our children for their use to fund their own qualified retirement plans, yet they can still have access to the funds if ever necessary (for Health, Education, Maintenance, and Support purposes).
This was described to us as a fairly new development/instrument in the Estate Planning field. It muust be, as I can find no information regarding Retirement Asset Trusts via internet searches.
Does anyone know much about these?
Thanks,
