AFAIK, all international flights from the US arrive in London at Heathrow Airport (LHR). Ryanair's flight from London to Stockholm departs from London Stansted (STN), which is quite far from Heathrow. There are shuttle buses, which you can purchase a ticket for in advance, but the ride is at least an hour and a half and you need to be mindful of the departure schedule. Not all trips follow the same route and you have to leave plenty of cushioning in case of flight delays or motorway traffic. Also, Heathrow itself is so big that you'd have to ride a train first to get to the bus stop!
Back in 2006, I had to forfeit the return leg of a round-trip booking between Boston and Copenhagen because plans changed, and I didn't have cancellation options. That round trip (on British Airways, via London) had been about $800, but to book a one-way on the same carrier was over $1400! I decided to use EasyJet to fly Copenhagen-London for about $150, and then a one-way to Boston on BA was $900. I think I allowed as much as six hours for the layover, but between a delay leaving Copenhagen and then having to go through customs at Stansted, I didn't have much time left when I finally checked in at Heathrow. It makes for a good story now, but I think I barely saved any money in the end.
Also, what the others have said about extra fees is very true. EasyJet doesn't follow the same flexible price structure as Ryanair, but I got slapped with $150 in baggage fees since my two checked bags (fine by BA's standards) were way over EasyJet's size/weight limit. The only silver lining is that when I arrived in Boston, I learned that those who had connected from BA's Copenhagen-London flight would not be reunited with their checked bags that day!
All of that being said, if you're already on the continent and are just hopping around between countries, those low-budget airlines will do you fine. I'd previously had much better experiences flying EasyJet from Rome to Copenhagen with a stopover in Berlin, and I think some friends flew Ryanair at some point. They're perfect for a young person with low expectations and more time than money...you get what you pay for. :)
