My biggest gripe with the G6......... I usually try to get a G6 when I rent only because I have learned where the controls are located and know what to expect from the car. "Better the Devil you know than the Devil you don't." There are few things scarier than being blasted by the tire wash off a fast moving semi-truck on a rainy expressway at night, and not being able to find the right stalk/lever/button to activate the wipers!
I agree, the dash is hideous and don't even try to use the Toll Change drawer. (You will easily rip it completely out of the dash, dropping all your accumulated change onto the floor mat below your feet.)
My biggest gripe is the trunk. It is impossible to fit more than one standard suitcase back there. Most of the rental G6's have the fibreboard trunk floor broken because of people jamming luggage in there. Since most of my rentals are either just myself on business, or just the wife and I on vacation, the back seat gets the luggage.
The HHR is one of my favorite vacation rentals. Ultra-cheap interior again, but ease of entry for four passengers AND usuable cargo space for luggage in an easily manuverable vehicle!
