Happy Friday!

We've been shopping for a replacement for Mom's 9-5 that was totaled in an accident, and I've noticed something interesting. Searching the classifieds, out of every 10 dealer ads, I'd say 8 have a significant mismatch between the advertised mileage and what the odometer reads in the photos. For example, I have one open in my browser now where the advertised mileage is 32,595 but the odometer clearly reads 42,302. And curiously (I'm *sure* it's just coincidental), the real mileage is always the higher of the two numbers.

Do they really think people are so dumb they won't notice things like this?

I haven't had the nerve to ask any of the sellers about it yet but I'm curious to hear what they'd say. I suppose one obvious explanation is people taking the car for test-drives, but assuming the drives average 20 miles, in the case above that's 485 test drives! I guess in that case my next question would be why didn't any of those 485 people buy the car? ;^)
