Congratulations, it's been home to us and our two SAAB 9.5's for many years. We have a trusted indy in Sand City who cares for two 2001 Sport Wagons. Closest dealer is B&B in Santa Clara. We use them for some parts, body shop, and when the car's were under warranty. We've also used Dorito Bros. in Walnut Creek but that's a day long trip. No SAAB club in Monterey Peninsula area.
I would not rule out any of the peninsula cities as far as housing is concerned. There are some gang/crime issues in parts of Salinas. Be ready for sticker shock depending of where you live now. The housing market is down some, but it's all relative. Near the coast continues to be some of the most expensive real estate in the US. In the 25 years since you've been here, the peninsula has become a major international turist destination and all costs reflect that reality. If you've got some specific questions send me an email.
