In the last couple of months I have noticed a decrease in supply of parts availability as well, when compared to other times. I recently have been waiting on:
-Red DIC T-5 (same as ursaw 9k coil) These are backordered with Saab. Only had to wait three weeks, just received it Friday of last week.
-End of last year black DIC T-7 PN55559955. Worldwide shortage. When they were available I ended up needing 8 cassettes for clients. Had friend in Norway check his dealers, backordered there as well.
-Windscreen microswitches for ng900 vert. Ordered two, got one in a week still waiting (4 weeks now) on the other. Backordered as well.
-9k CS Clutch Slave Cylinder. Had to wait 3 weeks for shipment coming from Sweden to arrive and clear customs.
-CS 9k Sunvisors. Had to wait 4 months for them to make another run.
I have a good relationship with my dealer so he will call and find out an exact timeframe on parts for me with Saab. Sometimes from what I gather parts get hung up in customs coming into the states, sometimes there are shortages from Saab suppliers and others times there are actual backorders which turn into NLS.
Sunvisors most can live without, but hard mechanical parts like slave cylinders and coil packs seem like something which should be stockpiled to the hills (esp DIs) as they will be needed as long as the cars remain on the road... This is where real inconvenience comes in.
