The proportions and features are way different! Front overhang on a G8 is shorter, 9-5 has quite a long rear overhang and more gently sloping back window. Grill and tail-lights are completely different. Interior bears no resemblance.
I don't know what you're seeing that makes you think it's a G8. The new 9-5 is simple in a way, but its uniqueness and Saab character lies in the subtleties of the design.
