It is something about your car that can elicit a consistant emotion out of you that is unique for that car. For some cars, it’s the quirks. I’ve got a few cars with character...
The Viggen (gone), was a rush of the turbo and the following smile. But it also acted like it never really wanted to go where I pointed it (torque steer, flexy body). It was a semi-wild thing like some psychopathic dog only you could get along with.
My M3 (the Viggen replacement) is simply a monster on a tight leash. The V8 roar when let loose, the hunkering down as I charge it up a mountain pass, the willingness to powerslide... all only a push of a button away to disable it’s electronic restrictions.
My Datsun 240z is more of a reminder of pure car fun. No insulation, no power anything, just you, a simple machine, and lots of road where you become part of the ride instead of insulated against it.
My ‘80 IH Scout II is just a sledgehammer. Lots of steel, and a willingness to drive through or over anything that gets in it’s way. No gimmicks, everything has a purpose... it’s a blunt tool where F=MA and finese is forgotten.
All different characters, but each one carries a different emotion with it.
