Consider the motivation of the source.......... VW/Audi has fantastic engineers, but I can't recall reading about any electric or hybrid or extended range vehicles they have in development. So maybe the motivation behind their sour grapes is they don't have a competing product.
I wish the Volt would be less costly at introduction. GM may have priced themselves out of a major part of the vehicle's market.
This product could be considered a stroke of genius as an interim vehicle, filling consumer's needs until the personal transportation industry is able to convert fully to electric power. The short commute driver can charge it at night and never have to buy gasoline, but they can use the same vehicle for cross-country drives by using gasoline without having to worry about re-charging times and locations.
