yet the SAAB was made years earlier. Goes to show you that SAAB was ahead of the times (as usual). Though having a higher thrust-to-weight ratio is advantageous in some situations (the Rafale is slightly higher), energy management and superor tactics is what wins. The Gripen has a very advanced avionics suite, and the cockpit is very intuitive. You are right about the NATO weapons. I meant to delete that statement from my previous post. The Gripen NG (Next Generation) is already availiable. The Brazilans are acquiring technology from the French to build their own fighters in the future. This was one of the main reasons for the decision. When Norway decided to buy the JSF instead of the Gripen... now, that's a perfect example of politics and stuffed bags of cash.
