I'm not sure Saab could survive with such low production numbers. The dealer network would shrink or die. Saab needs to market their cars in a way that makes people who never thought of owning one want one and takes sales away from BMW, Audi and the other equal class cars.
Even the latest GM inspired generation of offerings have all kinds of hooks to attract left and right brain people. The cars look good but yet are distinctive. They are relatively affordable, economical/high mpg, sporty, practical, reliable, safe, offer interesting technology and being Swedish they have an exotic factor in many parts of the world.
Saab needs positive main stream exposure and some coolness injected into their marketing - a few jet inspired commercials and some cameo appearances on the little watched Burn Notice isn't going to cut it after what has happened with the GM breakup. Make the next James Bond car a new 9-5 and see what happens to 9-5 sales, have Paris Hilton running around Beverly Hills in a 9-3 convertible with the cameras flashing - crazy examples but this kind of exposure gets people interested then the cars have a fighting chance to sell themselves by their own merits.
