Speaking from 10 years of expensive experiments attempting to solve the lack of rural internet service at my home, I also suggest you consider satellite only as a last resort. I've used 3 sat services over the years, and all were troublesome at times, with poor after-installation onsite support options, and always expensive.
If you have a cell-phone based data service, as mentioned by others, with good coverage, I highly recommend you go that route. If a signal is present by not strong enough, consider adding an outside antenna and a signal amplifier (wilson electronics or similar) to improve it.
I live in not-very-rural southern maine, but there is no broadband service. I'm sending this post over a Verizon data card, installed in a Cradlepoint wireless router (so my laptop can be used anywhere in the house). The antenna port on theVZ data card is connected to a Wilson signal amplifier wired to an outside omnidirectional antenna. It works better than any of my previous sat services ever did.
Just a bit more info to consider - hope it helps. Good luck
