Only salvation I can see.......... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 18 Dec 2009 13:33:22 In Reply to: Is it over, Dean, Fri, 18 Dec 2009 12:40:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I can imagine two potential scenarios, but both with low probability:
1) Merbaco(sp?) swoops in with their funding to assist Spyker with a purchase free of government backing. It appears the stumbling block continued to be the EIB and the failure of Sweden to grant loan guarantees.
2) BAIC buys the remaining SAAB assets and continues to build cars in Sweden for a while.
I feel #2 is the more likely of the two, but I don't know what the future of SAAB would be with BAIC ownership and potential move of all production to China. Almost all global automotive companies now build vehicles in multiple contries to be closer to all customers, so Trollhattan might survive with BAIC ownership.
So sad.........
