Great point for any of us shopping to consider - warranty coverage very is important.
On the flip side, I am wondering IF Saab does not continue, will my dealer be authorized for warranty work? I am very attached to my dealer and mechanics; they do excellent work, know and love Saabs and I KNOW they are less expensive than other Saab dealers in our area. I don't want to be forced to go to an unknown Mr. Goodwrench for warranty to someone who knows nothing (a so called Saab specialist decided to adjust the clutch in my 94 way back and it burnt out within 1 block of the shop).
I also hate to mention this, but I see snippets of comments on line and know many owners of 2003 and newer models that the quality isn't quite the same. I hope it is clear to all that don't mean to say anything negative about our beloved car company, but am speaking openly.
I consider us quite fortunate to have owned 6 that are trouble free, cheap to run cars.
We have an 02 9-3 and I am tempted to pick up another... we bought that used but with some factory warranty left and Saab did take care of all (even though minor) stuff for us (I am a nut about them being as close to perfect as possible).
But new certainly seems wise to consider if not THE way to go.... then again when I bought the 94 (GM)900, many people we knew had major issues - our has been a gem (almost at 214k and still runs like a turbo powered tiger with great mileage).
Saab up everyone!
