That's a great article, very correct Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Thu, 24 Dec 2009 10:01:45 In Reply to: Something a little lighter out of Sweden, Craig, Thu, 24 Dec 2009 08:44:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
People not born or raised in Sweden during that early time of TV will never understand as the article hints toward the end.
We were starved for any Disney movies back in those days in favor of socialistic left wing angled cartoons that were so low in quality (read stick figure style) that the 1 hour, ones a year, on Christmas was holy time for us kids.
The highlights are many and all of the old ones but we all kind of looked puzzled by the mini trailers of the new movie of the year toward the end of the 1 hour show and didn't always care for it.
The Donald Duck's, Clown of the jungle, being the best and imagine my surprised when I just a few years ago bought the Disney movie Whisper, an elephant tale, and found that short movie as an add on to the DVD.
AND, LOW AND BEHOLD! It was a 10sec extra at the end of the movie that we in Sweden had never seen before where the Aracuan uses a machine gun to shoot poor Donald before he finally goes bananas.
I was just sitting there with my mouth open feeling like what Howard Carter must have felt when he found Tutankhamun grave.
I guess they felt at the time it was too much violence with a machine gun so they edited it out.
Thanks for the link, now my Christmas is complete.
