It’s so hard to just sit back and wait for tradgedy without doing something…anything to avoid the worst-case scenario from happening. Here is a comment I submitted earlier…and the fact that GM sends out loyalty letters to American consumer is compelling evidence that they are banking on America’s ignorance of the facts!

In another Saab website SaabsUnited, Swade mentioned that all parties “have a job to do,” and I couldn’t agree with him more…our job is to focus the world’s attention on Saab Automobile AB and why it is so very important that this company be sold (and thereby continue to produce cars).

Toward that end, I believe we, the Saab enthusiast community, are clearly a talented tenacious group of people (which is perhaps the reason we love Saab so much) and we have resources at our disposal to “do OUR job.”

I think we’ve made our contacts with various government officials who were elected to represent us (they appear unfazed); we’ve contacted Ed Whitacre and Wilkinson, etc of GM (deaf ears); we’ve contacted the Swedish government officials (very interested but spineless). It’s time to take our case to the American public…the genuine owners of New GM. We should now focus our efforts on purchasing widespread full-page advertisements in major news outlets like Wall Street Journal and New York Times, L.A. Times, etc…and express our position on this matter and why selling Saab Automobile AB is in the best interest of ALL parties (mostly the American public at large). The last thing we need here (or abroad) is further job losses! Unemployment remains unacceptably high here in the U.S. and the Obama administration is trying to downplay this sad fact. Sweden can hardly afford to lose all of those jobs in the Trollhattan area, and other countries would suffer as well.

That being said, by taking our case to the American public, people will be better informed about the stark contrast involved between New GM’s closure of brands like Pontiac and Oldsmobile vs. Saab Automobile AB, where there are lucrative offers to buy the company and salvage the jobs! Once this information is out there, New GM would be hard-pressed to violate the trust of the American people who have graciously enabled it to live another day. Someone needs to take charge of this…with the knowledge and expertise of setting up the advertisement, collecting funds, and final placement.

We can do this people…I want you to think of the story of EB White’s “Charlotte’s Web,” and how that poor pig, Wilbur, was heading for the slaughterhouse until that talented and creative Charlotte started her ‘advertisement campaign’ to save him…saying “some pig”, “terrific”, “radiant”, and eventually “humble;” which convinced his owner he was worth saving…Saab Automobile AB is OUR ‘Wilbur’ and WE are ‘Charlotte.’

It’s our last best hope of convincing the powers that be that our beloved Saab is worthy of renewed life!!!!! We will not go quietly in the night…
