years ago I learned something important: don't take a 10 year old Saab (or probably any car, for that matter) to the dealer. Sure they can fix it, and they might do a decent job, but a good indy will save you a fortune!
re whether you should keep it or not, I dunno. It'll still cost a bit to fix (more than your $1500 from blue book), and if it's a linear, there may be bigger as of yet undiagnosed issues (eg your car is fairly low miles, so if you haven't been quick on the oil changes +/or done pcv#6, a sludge check mightn't be a bad thing before deciding keep/sell).
Now is a good time to buy. Bad time to sell. But the 2000 is old enough, it won't make much difference.
