There is no reason right now to assume that Spyker want a reduced network of dealers. After the Koenigsegg deal fell through, dealers were restored to prior status.
GM will have a role in Saab for years. Not only as a shareholder, but necessarily so because the drive trains will be GM supplied for several years. The current cars, to include the brand new 9-5, are built around GM based drive trains. The Koenigsegg deal was, according to an article I hope remember correctly, that GM would supply drive trains for five years.
If you want to influence anything, I suggest that you write to Whitacre, and now Spyker, to keep the network fully open. It is not just efficient sale of new cars. New buyers will want to know that when on the road there are alternative places to take the car if there is difficulty.
The same kind of public pressure that helped to bring this deal about can and should be used on keeping a dealer base in place.
GM did not get its nut, they got preferred shares of stock. And, while that may be a preferred claim on assets should the new entity not make it, they may well lose out if that occurs. GM is still secondarily on the hook for existing warranties. So, in their own way, I think GM finally let Saab go in a decent way.
So, keep them cards and letters flowing and maybe we all can have a dealer rather than just the big city folks.
