EGD,
thanks a lot for this interesting story, but to be honest I'm looking for smth else. Something like the one below (I do hope that local fellow australians do have a sense of humor).
There was a guy who decided to make a trip to Australia. He booked a room in a hotel, bought the tickets there and back, packed his luggage and took off. After he landed (say in Melbourne) and was on his way to airport land side to pick up a taxi he was stopped by customs officer.
- Sir, can I have your documents?
- Here they are, sir.
- Mr. Smith?
- John Smith
- Where're you from, mr. Smith?
- I'm from [pick up whatever you want]
- What's the purpose of your trip?
- Sightseeing, mostly sightseeing
- Have you ever been arrested or prisoned to jail?
- Pardon me asking, but is it still necessary?
You know, all such anecdotes
- are (or are supposed to be) funny to read
- tell a lot about the country and one's attitude to this country when reading between the lines
I'd like to read smth similar about russians and russki's.
Zig
P.S.
Frank, Mike and other dear australians - I do love all of you! The only (dumb) question to you - how do you get managed to drive your rides with the steering wheel coming up from a glovebox?
