I know that manumatics are getting better. I've even driven a new Porsche PDK (Is that the right acronym I'm using?) vehicle and I understand that some of these systems are even faster than traditional manuals. If I made a living being fastest around the track, I'd use the tools that get me there.
Since I don't make a living shaving tenths of seconds from my lap times, I want to enjoy the driving experience. For me, that means three pedals. I find great joy in heel-toe double clutching, executing the perfect launch, etc. etc. I know I'm not the best driver out there. I'm not the best basketball player out there either, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give up my shootin' hoops just because LeBron can do it better. I want to engage myself in the mechanical act of driving.
I might someday end up with an NG9-5, but will have a Viggen, Aero, e30/36/46 3/M3, something-else, to keep me interested.
