it weighs 4630 pounds. Is it just me, or does this strike anyone as being a little on the fat side? There are lighter SUVs on the road! 4,630 pounds!
For comparison, two models the new 9-5 targets, the Audi A6 and BMW 5er come in around 3,858 and 3571 pounds, respectively, and a Mercedes E350 is about 3,950 lb.
Compared to current and past full size Saabs the fat boy weighs about 40% more than my '96 9K and 30% more than my wife's '03 9-5 Linear SportWagon.
But maybe you get what you pay for: The base list price of $49,000 works out to just $10.58 cents per pound. That's LESS than my 9000 CSE, which went for $12.50/pound and the 9-5 SW that went for about $11/pound (both based on new car list prices).
Since I paid about $3.25 and $5.70 per pound, respectively, for our present cars used, I guess I'll have to wait until I can get a used NG9-5 for about $23K to get it in the same price range.
Did I mention that the car is fat? It's very nice, but I'll wait for the new 93 and 92.
