I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the 9-3 factory head unit is pretty similar to that of the 9-5.
As far as I know the factory head unit only has a MONO input for a phone line-in so it can play a phone call (or OnStar) through only the dash speakers. There is no way to get stereo sound into the head unit without an AudioTroll (good luck finding one) or a wired FM transmitter. Or a tape deck adapter. Ew.
