Dublin to Switzerland...... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Mon, 19 Apr 2010 12:36:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'll be going to Dublin June 20th to pick up an R1200GSAdventure from the Irish BMW dealer Maddocks to ride to Bern Switzerland and eventually to the BMW International Rallye in Garmisch Partenkirchen July 2-3-4 and back to Dublin by July 10th and am looking for some trip advice from all you international Saabers.
Dublin to Holyhead by ferry and then to southern England and a stop at a friends house in Hampshire. Hampshire to Portsmouth and a ferry to LeHarve or Cherbourg, then the traverse of France, maybe as far as Dijon by the end of a long day. And then on to the Alps.
It's been suggested that we could comeback across southern France through the Pyrenees and ferry from Santander or Bilbao back to Portsmouth so we didn't reprise our trip across France as that journey is supposedly unremarkable especially when using the "freeways" as we'll be somewhat pressed for time. Doesn't seem to be a ferry direct to Ireland from Spain.
Any thoughts? Some other novel alternatives are to find a train that takes vehicles or motorcycles from London to Paris and maybe from Paris to?? I know that you can make those train arrangements from Switzerland to Spain.
