The MGBGT was a sweet car--people often forget that most of these cars weren't garage queens--they were driven year around as everyday cars. With the hatchback the GT was a much more practical car than the rag top. I never owned one (I did have a couple of MG convertibles) but had the Triumph equivalent, a '67 GT6. It was my very first car that I bought my senior year in high school (1969).
