Try using playground sand - it removes everything! (at 90 psi) - syphon-type works fine.
I bought a 30 gallon compressor (1.5 hp) 120v thinking it was good enough. Little did I realise that the key number in basing whether the compressor is good enough for specific jobs, was the Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) rating (not HP or number of gallons of the tank). As it is, the 30 Gallon compressor is not good enough for continuous sandblasting or painting. But it was 120v and I was not willing to run a separate 240v line to the garage just for a higher rated compressor.
If you can use a dessiccant in the line to the nozzle, you will remove any moisture and therefore not introduce moisture into the fresh sandblasting. Warm the area with a hair dryer, and prime with paint right away. The warmth gets rid of any moisture and helps the primer dry quicker. Note: avoid trying to paint when the humidity is high.
Just a few ramblings that might help.
