Handling is a balancing act and there are a bunch of trade-offs, regardless of which wheels drive the car. You can get a FWD car to feel pretty neutral so that in normal driving the car feels good, but the faster you go the fact that it's FWD never goes away. But it can still feel real good. Put an FWD car on a skid pad or a track and it can feel great but the handling characteristics tell which end is driving the wheels.
Springs, shocks, bars and alignment all make a huge difference, then there's bushings and tires & tire pressure, and another biggie--weight distribution. You can adjust all of it except the weight part.
FWIW, my '96 9K is pretty neutral with an Aero suspension and SAS sway bars. It's still not as crisp as I'd like, but it does the job. IMHO, the sway bars make the biggest difference because they make all four tires work more evenly. I see more even tire wear in general, although the fronts naturally still wear faster.
Just my 2 cents.
