Just drove from Northern LA to Las Vegas - Four Corners - Denver - St Louis - DC - SE Mass in a Mazda5 rental car (one-way drop).
Saw only a few SAABs on the road -- one in Denver, one on I-70 in Kansas heading west, a few near Lexington, KY. Kind of disappointing.
We did see a loaded car carrier on I-70 just east of Kansas City loaded with new 9-3s on the 4th of July! At least three SCs and some sedans. I assume they were headed for a dealer in the KC area. Didt't get the chance to do a better inventory because we were headed in opposite directions. Still it was nice to see new SAABs heading for a dealerships!
Got to my hometown in SE Mass this afternoon and saw a bundle in the first three hours: two SCs, three convertibles, two SS, and several older 900, 9000, and OG 9-3s. Nice to be 'home,' etc.
Oh, and the Mazda5 was great for the kids but a dog at any altitude above near sea level. Crossed Monarch Pass in CO (over 11,300') and I really wish I had one of my SAABs for the drive. The power would have made the drive a lot more satisfying.
One last thing: I-64 from St Louis to I-81 in VA was a great alternative to I-70. Nice scenery and very few tractor trailers (unlike I-70).
