When I was in the Navy I hung out and flew occasionally with Navy jet jocks and other naval aviators. The things these guys can do in an airplane are just flat amazing. Let alone being able to land on an aircraft carrier at night, in a storm with a 15-foot sea running.
I did a couple years in air national guard after the Navy and talked with the former Air Force pilots. They all thought Navy pilots were absolutely nuts, and would push the envelope much further than AF pilots did.
I saw an air show in Dayton a few years back that had both the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels. The 'birds were really good. The Angels played at a whole different level.
Whenever I'm on an airliner and the weather is bad, I always hope there's a ex-naval aviator in the left seat.
