This is not so much a question as a statement, and a plea to Saab's product planners.
I am a loyal Saab owner, but I have started to think about replacing my Saab with something else. To this end, I test drove an '09 WRX (5 door, Premium) last week, despite being a bit old for that car's typical demographic.
That test drive, and getting back into my Saab, put into sharp relieve what I really want: A Saab (9-2?) with features and size similar to an A3, WRX 5-door, and Lancer Sportback Ralliart, but with design features (esp. interior design cues) from the new 2011 9-5.
There's lots of information floating around about about the 9-1 & 9-1x that may be out in a year or so, but that strikes me as one size smaller, a Volvo c30 and Mini competitor.
Of course, I realize that Saabs's future product plans are confidential, and probably a bit uncertain due to the change in ownership, but they should just know you have a buyer ready and waiting cash-in-hand for such a next-gen Saab.
I also strongly believe that such a vehicle could be a very good product for a niche not yet saturated - upscale Euro smaller cars with a great combination of economy, utility, performance, and style.
