With GM there were actual parts available. And if you want to be really honest about it, at least some of them were better than the ones that went before, same part number and all.
While the way GM handled the parts suppliers during the transition is reprehensible, causing parts to become unavailable--like the a/c evaporator for my 9-5. Some of this is probably Spyker, too. But I tell ya, if I can't get common parts for our four Saabs I'll have one as a hobby car and drive something else.
I'm no fan of GM products. Have never liked them. And there are only a couple I'd actually consider buying (a Caddy CTS-V or possibly a ZR-1 or Z-06 Vette). Right now I'm beginning to feel as if I have some really oddball car, like a'75 Borgward or something, not being able to get a pretty ordinary part.
